School of Art

Brief Introduction

School of Art was founded in January, 2002. It comes into being by incorporating musicology and fine arts in the former Normal College. The disciplines of pedagogics and fine arts were set up in the mid-1980s at the original Wuxi Educational College. From 2001, we began to recruit undergraduate students; in 2005, musicology and fine arts were entitled to grant bachelor¡¯s diploma and fine arts was qualified to cultivate graduate students. In addition, the school has also developed new disciplines like dancing guidance. Presently there are altogether 68 faculty members, among whom there are 4 professors and 12 associate professors, accounting for 33% of all the teaching staff. Besides, there are 544 full-time students.

School of Art focuses on cultivating all-round talents who are innovative, versatile and professional. Our three specialties have developed their specific features by mingling with each other and have yielded fruitful results in various performances and in scientific research as well. The discipline of dancing boasts of its several teachers and exports in the field of dancing. In 2005, students in this concentration have, on behalf of Chinese college students, paid a visit to Singapore.
